Okay, I figured since I havn't wrote a journal in forever, I probably should update just so I can get that old journal from like, November off my page.
So, quite a few things going on, first of which is I have a new-found obsession with Kung Fu Panda 2. It's a little odd, because although the first one was good, it didn't really have that extra touch that would have changed it from an okay movie into a jawdropping experience. And that's why I never saw KFP2 in theatres. But I have to tell you, after watching KFP2 on DVD, my mind was blown away by the beauty and depth that was portrayed in such a simple-looking film. It was really well done, and I was even more surprised and impressed when I found out that Jennifer Yuh Nelson was directing. As both an artist and a woman, she is definatly a great role model and I'm really glad she's holding the top spot for highest grossing movie directed by a woman. All in all, KFP2 has just really caught my attention and amazed me to such a high extent, so of course I'll be doing more fanart in the future.
Also, I'm going to be doing another, more dedicated fanart for two of the most funniest, coolest, weirdest, and most inspirational people on the internet: Cory Williams from SMP Films
www.youtube.com/user/DudeLikeH… and Kate from KatersOneSeven
www.youtube.com/user/Katersone… . I've watched their blogs every day since the start, and their humor has lifted me up from so many sad and miserable times in my life. Whenever I'm down or just feeling like "bleh," Cory and Kate always manage to say something that makes me want to get back up and keep trying. And I'm not the only one. They've entertained and inspired thousands, and although I don't know them personally, I feel the need to give back in the best possible way. And my art is the best way I can show my thanks! I'm not going to go into specifics of what I'm doing, but... it's going to be pretty cool.
Finally, I am going to start doing more original art. I feel like I've gotten to the point in my life where, although I like doing fanart, I don't need to use other people's creations to channel my own ideas forth. When I was younger, reality would always hinder my creative process, never allowing me to put onto paper what I could portray so easily in my head. But now, I understand concept and character design, and I know enough of anatomy and stylization to bring my ideas to life. I find that I enjoy working with my own imagination, and now reality is helping me translate my thoughts to all the other artists on here, giving me a chance to share it with the world.
Sorry that this journal is a little wordy, but I just got carried away with all the new ideas that I have. Anyway, long story short, KFP2 is awesome, SMP Films is awesome, original art is awesome. Life is awesome.
